Osprey Season at Rutland Water is off to a flying start: Watch now on the nest lives stream

Ospreys have returned to Rutland Water for the 2025 season after their migration to Africa over the winter. The large fish-eating birds return to Rutland Water every Spring as part of a larger conservation effort to protect the species.

On 13th March, the first female Osprey, named 25(10), returned to the nest at Manton Bay. However, the female that has nested in this spot for the last 15 years, Maya, has since returned and reclaimed her nest, evicting 25(10) to her normal nesting site.
Maya is one of the most successful breeding female Osprey's on record, having raised an amazing 28 chicks since she arrived at Rutland Water in 2009.
The Live Stream run by the Rutland Osprey Project with Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust shows Maya catching fish, collecting sticks to build her nest and watching an otter swim past in the early hours of the morning.

The Rutland Osprey Nest Cam Live Stream can be watched on the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust website, offering two different angles to view the nest. The livestreams can be watched here.
From May, visitors to Rutland Water can book a cruise to see the Osprey's nests up close. These cruises are joined by a member of the Rutland Osprey Project team to give visitors all the details about the Ospreys and answer any questions.
To keep up to date with the comings and goings of the Ospreys as the season goes on, follow the Rutland Osprey Project on Facebook for regular updates.
