Pinders Cirucus is returning to Rutland!

Oakham Town Council has announced the circus will be performing in the town at the end of May, Covid-19 restrictions willing.

Last Spring, the popular circus was forced to cancel its visit to Rutland, Melton and Stamford last March due to the pandemic and its restrictions.

These and other government-imposed cancellations led the group to receive £50,000 of support from central government, as previously reported by Nub News.

Oakham Town Council said on social media: "Like the rest of the country we are following all Covid guidelines and hoping that as things continue to improve restrictions will gradually be lifted for us all.

"With this in mind Oakham Town Council are cautiously planning for events that may be able to take place in May and throughout the summer months."

"At the meeting of full Council on the 10th March permission was granted for Pinders Circus to set up and run performances in Cutts Close Park at the end of May 2021."

The post continued: "Covid has had significant financial impacts on individuals, families and business for the past 12 months and will continue to do so for some time. In recognition of this, in order to support businesses that function within the town and to encourage a return to normality doing things we can all enjoy, Oakham Town Council has resolved to charge no rent to both Pinders Circus and Holland and sons funfair on their first visit to the town once lockdown restrictions have been lifted.

"Any events taking place in Cutts Close Park will follow any government guidelines that are in place at that time and may be subject to late minute cancellations depending on government announcements."
