A Rutland-based beer festival kicks off in Greetham this afternoon.
The Plough in Greetham, a popular and community-spirited village just to the north of Rutland Water headed up by landlord Peter, will be hosting another cracking event this weekend, and can't wait to welcome you to the lively local venue.
Plough Fest is set to kick off on tonight, Friday 22 September at 4pm, and promises to be a weekend to remember for locals and visitors alike.
Not only will there be a variety of local beers available - including classics from the likes of Dancing Duck brewery, Shadow Bridge Brewery, Pennine Brewery, The Grainstore Brewery and Milestone Brewery - but the team will also be hosting a range of bands from in and around Rutland, as well as showing live screenings of the ever-thrilling Rugby World Cup groups stages.
Popular with Rutland CAMRA, The Plough is a hive of activity and serves a rotation of popular beers all year round. On top of having a passion for great beer and food - which is all loving prepared by landlord Peter - the team are "incredibly passionate about supporting live, local music".
Peter said: "Our love for live music features strongly during Plough Fest 2023, which we are very excited for.
"Our opening act tonight is the one and only Top Banana, a 9-piece show band, and headlining on Saturday evening is The Midnight City Disco Band featuring two lead vocalist from here in Greetham.
"The Main act and closing the festival on Sunday will be all time Plough favourite Angie or 'mad Ang' as we've nicknamed her here at The Plough. This super talented professional singer is definitely one not to be missed her brilliant vocal talent coupled with an eccentricity that's hard to describe make her the most requested performer at the Plough. All these artists will be supported by further talents during the festival including the Sing out Rutland Choir, who always put on a great show."
Peter added: "Plough fest 2023 will also feature some of our favourite beers, including Ay Up, Orb of Destiny, Beaters Blonde, plus of course some local beers from The Grainstore Brewery in Oakham and Milestone Brewery based out of Newark. With this large spectrum of choice they'll definitely be something for everyone."
For the Rugby fans, the festival marquee will be set up with a huge outdoor screen, and all of the Rugby World Cup games will be playing during the festival, with the England game on Saturday having uninterrupted coverage.
Come on, England!
Food is available during the event from the Plough Fest menu, and includes the famous Plough Burgers - definitely one not to be missed!
The pub's animal corner will also be open for kids to enjoy, and includes a menagerie of furry and feathery animals, including rabbits and a whole flock of budgies.
Did we mention, they're also dog friendly?
Plough Fest 2023 opens at 4pm on Friday 22 September, and runs through until Sunday evening, so there really is fun to be had for the whole family in Greetham this weekend.
