Detectives are appealing for motorists with dashcam footage to come forward following a double fatal collision in Rutland.

Police were called to the A47 Leicester Road, near Belton in Rutland, shortly after 6.15pm on Friday the 18th of November 2022.

The collision involved a red Hyundai i10 and a brown Citroen C4. The occupants of the Hyundai – a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s – were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Citroen – a man in his 30s – suffered injuries that were not life-threatening or life-changing.

The road was closed while officers carried out further enquiries and reopened at around 6am on Saturday the 19th of November.

Detective Constable Anna Thorpe, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: "Our investigation into the incident is continuing and I am asking for any motorists who were on the A47 to come forward.

"I'm particularly keen to speak to anyone with a dashcam in their vehicle, who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to it occurring.

"I also know there may be some drivers who stopped at the scene but left prior to emergency services arriving. If you have any information you think could help, no matter how insignificant it is, then please get in touch."

You can report information online by quoting reference 22*676863.

Alternatively call 101.
