Police investigate break-in at Oakham Town Council

Police are investigating a break-in at Oakham Town Council.
It is understood officials believed someone had been accessing the council offices at ROL House – and set up a webcam to monitor the situation.
Following the out-of-hours security breach, the incident was reported to the police.
The town clerk for Oakham Town Council Chris Evans said he could not comment on the incident as there was an "ongoing police investigation".
Cllr Paul Ainsley said: "We are taking this incident extremely seriously. The safety and wellbeing of our staff remains our highest priority, and immediate steps have been taken to reinforce security across our offices.
"The matter has been reported to the police, and we are working closely with them to support their enquiries."
Councillors were updated on the incident at a meeting of Oakham Town Council on Wednesday.
However, details of the briefing were kept confidential, after a vote was passed to exclude the press and public.
The item on the agenda read: "To update the council on the unauthorised access incident on February 19."
Separately, the meeting heard that the council was targeted by fraudsters who tried to cash a fake cheque for £5,500.
The cheque was spotted by Lloyds Bank and no funds were lost from the council coffers.
The meeting was told that this matter has also now been reported to police.
The Local Democracy Service has approached Leicestershire Police for comment.
