A pop up village shop is opening in a village just north of Oakham.

The new store, located in Burton Lazars, will stock every day essentials, including milk, bread, pantry items and toiletries.

Just over the Rutland border, but a modest drive from the county, the villagers of Burton Lazards are welcoming a new pop up shop - which comes in good time for the residents, who are today also seeing the beginning of a three-week road closure, limiting their access to Melton Mowbray.

Ferneley's will be supplying fresh milk, and eggs are being provided by local lady and shop owner, Tess.

Tess has encouraged users to let her know if they would like any new stock adding to the shelves as the new venture finds its feet.

The shop is run on an honesty box principle, so users should bring correct change or can pay by card using the "My Honesty Box" app:

The new store will be open from 7am until 10pm, Monday to Sunday.
