Prolific Oakham shoplifter jailed and barred from shops

A PREOLIFIC shoplifter continued to offend despite numerous convictions for similar offences has now been jailed and issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Patrick Doran was convicted after pleading guilty of three counts of theft and was also sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.

29-year-old Doran, of Burley Road, Langham, Oakham, was issued with a CBO prohibiting him from: -

• Not to remain in any store in Leicestershire and Rutland once asked to leave by a member of staff.

• Not to enter any store from which you are banned namely Morrisons in Oakham, Coop in Burley Road, Oakham, Coop in Braunston Road, Oakham, BP in Oakham, BP in Melton, Garden Village Café in Oakham and Budgens in Uppingham.

The order is in place for five years.

PC Shane Sanderson from Melton and Rutland Neighbourhood Policing Area, said: "Doran has been committing offences in the area for several years and despite previous convictions he has continued to offend.

"When challenged by retail staff Doran has made violent threats towards them. This behaviour is not acceptable.

"We would ask people to report any breaches of the CBO and we hope this outcome reassures local business and the community that we and the courts will use the powers available to ensure he doesn't continue."
