Rutland residents are being reminded to vote in local elections next week if the area where they live is being contested.

Elections for Rutland County Council, together with town and parish councils, are due to take place on Thursday, 2 May.

Where elections are contested (there are more candidates standing than there are seats available), voting will take place from 7.00am until 10.00pm.

Five county wards are uncontested in this year's local elections, meaning there will be no county council votes in these areas.

They are:

Exton

Greetham

Normanton

Oakham North West

Ryhall and Casterton

The majority of parish wards are uncontested this year, with parish and town council votes taking place in only three areas.

They are:

Oakham South (Oakham Town Council)

Uppingham Town Council

Wing Parish Council

All voters receive a polling card to confirm their details but will only be able to vote if there is a contested election for their county or parish ward. You can check this online at: www.rutland.gov.uk/elections2019.

Votes cast in the elections will be counted at Victoria Hall in Oakham on Friday 3 May - the day after Polling Day.

Following final recommendations made by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England, there have been a number of changes to ward boundaries in Rutland since the last full round of local government elections in May 2015.

This has changed where some people will need to vote. For more information about changes to ward boundaries click the red button below.

If you have any questions about the elections contact Rutland County Council by emailing [email protected] or calling 01572 722 577.
