A pair of returning Ospreys wasted no time when they arrived back to Rutland Water yesterday.

After the Rutland Osprey Project reported the first of the Osprey to arrive back from Africa earlier in the week, yesterday saw the return of their most famous couple Maya and 33(11).

The project posted on social media yesterday afternoon: "BREAKING NEWS: our star pair from the Manton Bay nest, 33(11) and Maya are back!!!

"33(11) was the first to arrive at 12:29 and it wasn't too long before Maya appeared at 12:56. The pair got straight down to business and copulated at 13:00."

The Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust has also made a video (above) showing the return of the two love birds.

The trust said: "Enjoy the moment Maya and 33(11) reunite for the first time in just over 6 months!

"You can of course rewind to that moment via our live webcam which includes the audio by visiting www.lrwt.org.uk/rutlandospreys!

"There is a timestamp at the bottom left hand corner to help you navigate. 33(11) returned at 12:29 and Maya at approx. 12:52."

In the meantime, the group is also encouraging people to enjoy World Osprey Week, which starts next week, and is online this year, as previously reported by Nub News.
