Rutland 2021 beer festival cancelled
Rutland CAMRA has announced the cancellation of its 2021 Beer Festival.
The decision follows the government setting out its roadmap' last month, which branch chairman John Whowell declared was "not good news for the industry we love."
He said on social media: "We had hoped that we might be able to hold the Rutland CAMRA Beer Festival at the end of June. This is now not going to happen, sadly.
"Whilst we are all unhappy not to be able to bring you our great festival, cancellation is the only course of action available.
"Even if restrictions were to be lifted in June there is not enough time to get a safe event organised so please bear with us."
At present pubs can open for outdoor service from Monday April 12, with indoor service allowed from May 17, and with the prospect of restrictions ending on June 21.
John continued: "We briefly discussed holding an event in the Autumn but have come to the conclusion that this is not viable so we look forward to 2022.
"I would like to thank all those from the branch who have put a lot of work in already. Also thanks to our sponsors , I hope we can count on your support in 2022.
"Plans are afoot to arrange social get togethers at pubs in strict adherence to Government rules. Watch the website and Facebook pages for more information."
He added: "Please stick to the rules, get a jab if offered and look out for people in your families and communities. Please be kind and safe."
In the meantime, people are urged to go out and support their pubs as soon as they re-open.
