Uppingham actor and writer Henry Dawe welcomes listeners to join him at Oakham School on Saturday 4th October to enjoy his radio play about inter-generational friendship.

As part of Oakham School's Service Weekend which encourages young people to give back to their community, Henry's radio play hopes to spark conversations about loneliness, unlikely friendship and community connection.

The Autumn of my Years will be played for audiences with the opportunity to listen to a discussion and participate in an audience question and answer session.

Henry Dawe is a well-recognised face around Rutland, working at Oakham Castle and Rutland County Museum, running the Oakham and Uppingham Twinning Societies and taking to the stage himself as the writer and a performer of the Cheer Upp fundraiser last year, raising money for the Rutland Music Video project.

Henry lives in Oakham and takes a lot of inspiration from the surrounding area, having grown up in the area.

Henry's play was first recorded in 2022, following a decade-long writing process. It is inspired by his own experience befriending someone older than him, building a meaningful connection.

The radio play has been created in partnership with the Campaign To End Loneliness, an organisation that provides practical research on loneliness and isolation, as well as supporting communities to tackle loneliness with the latest research, opportunities and events.

The event on 4th October will also be raising funds for Age UK. The event is free to attend but donations will be being accepted for Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland.

If you are interested in attending this event, register your attendance between 1st and 30th September by emailing [email protected] or phoning 01572 758500
