The Rutland and Melton MP, Alicia Kearns, has announced the winner of her Christmas card competition 2022.

The competition, which was launched in 2020, was open to primary school aged children in Rutland and Melton and received an "overwhelming response".

The theme this year was 'Christmas Carols' and, with over 300 entries to judge, Kearns had a tough decision on her hands.

The overall winner was Avie Hallows from Swallowdale Primary School in Melton Mowbray.

The runners up were Oakham's own Lulu Percival from Brooke Hill Academy, and Daisy Preston from Captain's Close School in Asfordby.

Mrs Kearns said that she was "touched" by the response to her competition, adding: "The artistic talent on display was outstanding and it was an absolute pleasure to judge all of the brilliant submissions."
