MP Alicia Kearns has thanked "amazing" local producers for their hard work this National Farmers Day.

The Conservative MP for Rutland and Melton is passionate about local produce, and has taken the opportunity today, 12 October, to thank local farmers for all they do within the local community.

Falling in the middle of the harvest, one of the busiest times for local farmers, National Farmers Day offers much-deserved praise to the hard-working land owners and farmers across the nation.

Alicia Kearns said: "Farming is at the heart of so many of our communities across Rutland, Melton, the Vale and Harborough villages, and today we recognise our amazing farmers who work around the clock to feed our nation.

"From Long Clawson Dairy Stilton, to Dickinson & Morris Melton Mowbray Pork Pies, to Vine Farm Dairy milk, Belvoir Fruit Farms Drinks, Round Corner Brewing beers, Mallard Point Vineyard & Distillery gin, Multum Gin Parvo gins, Hambleton Brewery baked goodies and The Rutland Vineyard wines and just so many more, I am very fortunate to represent so many amazing food producers and farmers locally.

"Buying British is good for our local food producers, good for the environment, and good for consumer choice, so let's all come together to celebrate our wonderful local farmers.

"Thank you for all you do for our communities."

This comes as the local MP urged the Government to support British farmers on online supermarket stores. They have joined the call of Ms Kearns and over 100 other MPs in supporting this cause.
