Rutland and Melton MP Alicia Kearns has seen success in parliament following a speech she made imploring fellow MPs and the Secretary to the Treasurer to commit more time and resources to tackling Rural Poverty.

Ms Kearns wrote: "I am pleased to have secured a commitment from the Secretary to the Treasury to meet with me and discuss putting social mobility into funding formulas alongside deprivation to ensure our councils get the funding they deserve.

"I strongly believe we must focus on levelling up our rural way of life across Rutland, Melton, the Vale and Harborough villages and put an end to rural poverty."
