Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Stamford, has been named as 'Overall MP of the Year' by the Patchwork Foundation.

The Patchwork Foundation's awards celebrate MPs that actively work with underrepresented and disadvantaged communities from across the UK, aiming to promote and encourage the participation of young people in British democracy.

"I'm enormously honoured by this award," said Alicia Kearns, "As an MP, you have the extraordinary privilege of being able to touch people's lives, and many thanks go to the people of Rutland and Stamford for putting their trust in me and giving me the opportunity to do work that can change people's lives every day.

"Making a real difference to people's lives is why I do what I do. This award is also for my amazing team, without whom I couldn't serve our communities. Thank you, Patchwork, and to everyone who nominated me from across the country."

An awards ceremony was hosted at the Speakers House in Parliament last week with awards being given in multiple categories including Community Champion, Young People's MP of the Year and awards for each party.
