A local band has featured on the BBC this week.

Laketown is a new country band featuring three local lads who have a passion for great British music.

Band members Marcus Houghton, Dan Poole and Jordan Poole are recognisable faces around Oakham, having been a part of the popular party band Funked Up for many years.

Their new band, Laketown, is taking the trio in a new direction, and their music is already being enjoyed across Leicestershire and Rutland by listeners of BBC Radio Leicester.

BBC Music Introducing is a platform for new and aspiring musicians to share their latest projects and has helped launch the careers of now-popular musicians such as George Ezra, Jack Garratt, Florence and the Machine, Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, Becky Hill, Jake Bugg, Izzy Bizu, James Bay and many more.

Laketown's debut single, 'Talk About It', has been played on BBC Radio Leicester this week as a part of the BBC Music Introducing series.

The new track will officially be released on 7 July 2023, so watch this space.
