Bluebird Care Stamford & Rutland is supporting this year's Self Care Week which runs from the 14th until the 20th of November 2002 and is organised by the Self Care Forum.

The Self Care Forum is a UK-based organisation formed in 2011, with the aim of embedding self-care into everyday life.

With people living longer, more needs to be done to support individuals across Stamford & Rutland in looking after their own health as well as reducing the pressures on local health services. The Self Care Forum offers support to individuals in taking better care of their health and is a resource to NHS organisations, local authorities and those within the voluntary sector.

Self Care Week is an annual awareness week to encourage support for self care across communities, with this year's theme focusing on "Exercise Self Care for Life".

The week-long event aims to engage and empower individuals to take care of themselves and in turn improve their understanding of self-care for life. The Self Care Forum encourages individuals to:

  • Take Vitamin D supplements, especially if you are shielding and are not able to go outdoors
  • Support mental wellbeing by being connected
  • Regularly exercise
  • Practice good nutrition
  • Understand how to manage health conditions
  • Support health education in the community and schools
  • Make positive lifestyle choices

Tim Carey, Director of Bluebird Care Stamford & Rutland, said: "We are delighted to be supporting Self Care Week and we are encouraging our local community to keep fit and stay healthy. By empowering and engaging individuals to take good care of themselves, we hope to increase understanding of self care in our local area, as well as ease pressures on our local health services."

Visit the Self Care Forum website to find out more about the campaign and how you can get involved.
