For Rutland, a local charity that fundraises for Citizens Advice Rutland (CAR), has raised an impressive £47,000 at its annual Good & New Clothes Sale.
For Rutland raises funds to pay for specialist advisers at Citizens Advice Rutland, who provide free, confidential, independent, non-medical advice to people of all ages who are living with long-term health conditions in Rutland and the surrounding area.
Since starting in June 2014, the specialist advisers have obtained over £8m for local people through benefit gain, debt write-off or grant funding.
The team explained: "1 in 4 people in the UK suffer from long term conditions, such as cancer, strokes, dementia, multiple sclerosis, heart disease and mental illness. This affects every part of our community and people of all ages.
"The point of diagnosis is often just the beginning. Living with the practical problems associated with long-term conditions can be overwhelming at a time when people are at their most vulnerable."
As such, fundraising events such as this are key to the ongoing success of CAR, and the £47,000 raised at the end of March will allow the team to continue supporting local people.
The team shared the good news on social media: "Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
"Thank you to all the lovely shoppers that helped us make £47,000 over the two days at the Good & New Clothes Sale.
"This money will ensure the service provided by the Specialist Advisers at Citizens Advice Rutland can continue for the next year.
"Thank you also to all those businesses and volunteers who donated their time, effort, goods and services before, during and after the sale.
"Without all these people there would have been no sale."
