More Rutland children appear to have got their first choice of primary school, according to figures released today.

Parents were due to be told today what schools their children will be attending on this National Offer Day for children who are due to start primary school in September 2020.

Prior to today, Rutland County Council received and processed 345 applications for resident children for September 2020 primary school admissions. Of these children, a total of 338 (98 per cent) were offered their first choice school.

Of the 345 applications, 342 (99 per cent) were offered a place at either their first, second or third choice school.

Three applicants had no preference met but did receive an offer from an alternative school, instead.

Councillor David Wilby, Cabinet Member for Education at Rutland County Council, said: "This year's national offer day for primary school places takes place under very different circumstances.

"We hope that parents and will be happy with the offers they've received from schools. Once again, we've seen a high proportion of first choice offers for primary school starters and there are no children in Rutland without the offer of a school place.

"The process for responding to offers remains unchanged. Further information and support is also available through our Admissions Team."

Rutland parents and carers have 14 days to confirm if they wish to accept or decline the place they have been offered for September 2020.

Details of how to respond are included in the offer email or letter, while more information about school admissions is available online.
