Coronavirus crisis: Rutland MP recognises Oakham business as an unsung hero

An Oakham coffee shop has been recognised for its efforts to help the community during the lockdown.

Rutland MP Alicia Kearns has announced that Ian Stares and Alyson Kyle of The Larder are the first of her three 'Unsung heroes; this week.

The MP said: "They have focused all their efforts on providing free meals to anyone in need, with the elderly, self-isolating individuals and key workers prioritised.

"I am so enormously touched by their generosity."

Oakham Nub News has covered the Larder's but-needs-help good works before here , when they appealed for support and here, when they started their deliveries.

The couple can be supported in their efforts through the Just Giving Page 'Free Food for Rutland.'

The other two winners are Joe Orson who is looking after 70 army horses so they can focus on the pandemic.

Jim Bluck is another winner for making up vegetable boxes and delivering them to those who need them.
