Rutland County Council has rejected an application for three new glamping holiday pods at a site near Langham over concerns about the site being 'unsuitable.'

The proposed site at Rocott Lodge Barn near Langham and Station Road at Wing Hollow off the A606 is currently a paddock that the owners hoped to turn into a glamping site with three one-bedroom pods.

The owner, Mr Wellman-Smith, hoped that the pods would be ideally situated for tourists to access attractions and services in Rutland.

However, Rutland County Council disagrees. Despite no issues with the site being raised by the highways department, the council has rejected the application. The authority said that the site is an "unsuitable location" and "the proposed accommodation would not be well related to any tourist attractions or other services."

They also claim that the pods could result in 'significant' travel to and from the site.

Previously, similar applications have been rejected because of a concerned impact on the 'open rolling landscape.'
