Following the close of the nomination period for candidates in the Oakham South By-Election at 4.00pm on Friday the 17th of June 2022, only one candidate stood validly nominated and was duly elected as Ward Member, without contest:

The successful candidate is Raymond James Payne, who is a Liberal Democrat.

This means that the ever growing Liberal Democrat group on Rutland County Council now has 6 Liberal Democrat Councillors, after the election of Stephen Lambert in May 2022.

This means there will be no election taking place for Oakham South Ward on Thursday the 14th of July 2022

Councillor Payne will serve until Rutland's next round of normal Full Council elections in May 2023.

A Notice of Result of Uncontested Election has been published on Rutland County Council's website.

Congratulations to Raymond James Payne, who joins Joanna Burrows and Paul Browne in representing Oakham South.
