Rutland County Museum will be closed for essential works until 29 August 2023.

This is so that electrical works can take place.

Rutland County Council Tweeted the news:

"Rutland County Museum will be temporarily closed to visitors from Monday 21 August - Tuesday 29 August in order for essential electrical works to be undertaken. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

This comes as the current exhibition, Fashion on a Plate, approaches the end of its stay at the local attraction.

Fashion on a Plate is a display of 1950s tableware and will be closing on 2 September, giving residents only three more opportunities to catch the exhibition.

Discover iconic pottery designs from the past which are still much-loved today at Rutland County Museum - but only for a limited time as the exhibition gets ready to close.

The 1950s was an exciting and innovative period for ceramic design. Potteries set about changing the shape and pattern of everyday tableware with new freeform shapes and bold, stylised, and abstract decoration.

The exhibition includes examples from the main producers of this new distinctive style including Midwinter, Ridgway, Poole and Hornsea.

Catch the exhibition on Wednesday 30 August and Friday 1 and Saturday 2 September, which is the final day to catch 'Fashion on a Plate'.

The museum is at:
