More than 15,000 Covid vaccinations have now been given to people at the Rutland COVID Vaccination Centre.
This includes about 1000 second vaccinations for people who had their first in the December clinics run by the Rutland Heath Primary Care Network.
Now, Rutland Heath has started to offer second vaccinations to people living in care homes.
In an update the PCN said: "We are now inviting people who had their first vaccination before January 15th to book their second vaccination, and people aged over 53 for their first dose. You will receive a SMS or phone call if you are eligible; please be patient because it takes us time to contact everyone."
The update continued: "We have been advised of a national shortage of vaccine for first doses from March 29th. This includes the mass vaccination sites. Vaccine for second doses is available and set aside for those who are due, which is normally between 77 and 84 days after the first vaccination. "There is no shortage of vaccine for second doses for those who received their first dose at the Rutland Covid Vaccination Programme and you will receive an invitation, normally by SMS. You can expect your second vaccination about 11 weeks after your first jab. "We are told the day of delivery of vaccine about a week before it arrives. We normally use all the vaccine within 48 hours of delivery. For this reason we can't give a precise date and time for your second vaccination until we know the day that the vaccine will be delivered to us." Further details of when to expect a second vaccine and how to book appointments can be found here.
