A scheme to erect 60 leisure lodges on a Rutland golf course has gained planning approval.

Businessman Chris Riddle and father Colin gained planning approval for the development when the planning and licensing committee of Rutland County Council met last night.

As Nub News recently reported , the pair bought the former Rutland County Golf Club with the aim of developing the site.

Councillors agreed with officer recommendations to approve the scheme on what is now called the Woolfox Golf and Country Club on Hardwick Lane, Empingham.

In addition to the leisure lodges for occupation on a noncontinuous basis, the application also includes the renovation and conversion of existing barns to form a leisure suite including gym, swimming pool and ancillary spaces including staff accommodation, renovation and alteration of the existing Clubhouse.

There would also be alterations to the grounds including changes to the golf course and construction of lakes for leisure and ecological purposes.
