A local holiday park has closed in the middle of the summer holidays.

Staff at Ranksborough Hall in Langham, Rutland, have been temporarily laid off according to residents and employees, as the park has been forced to close this summer.

This comes as the summer holidays get into full swing - something that local shops, pubs, bars and other attractions rely on in Oakham's market town and across the county.

RoyaleResorts who run the park have not been able to confirm when the park will reopen, but have said that it will be "as soon as possible".

A spokesperson for RoyaleResorts said: "RoyaleResorts has unfortunately had to temporarily close Ranksborough Hall at short notice.

"All affected holiday makers in the short term will be contacted and asked if they would like to be relocated to another local resort where possible or refunded.

"We'd like to apologise for the inconvenience caused and we hope to reopen the park as soon as possible."

The park will still be open to residents who live in the lodges all year round, but the park will be closed to visitors who have booked holidays this summer.
