Rutland Morris will be celebrating 50 years of dancing with a special event in Uppingham tonight (5 August).

2024 marks 50 years of Rutland Morris, whose first meeting was on 5 August 1974.

They will be celebrating the milestone with a walking tour in Uppingham, visiting some of their old haunts:

  • 7.30pm: Two dances outside the (defunct) Waggon & Horses, West End of the High Street
  • 7.45pm: Two dances outside the (defunct) Cross Keys and the (defunct) Royal Oak, Queen Street
  • 8pm: Two dances outside the Crown Inn with refreshments
  • 8.30pm: Two dances outside the Vaults, in the Market Place, with refreshments
  • A homage to drinking / dancing / meetings / massed dances / Ring Meetings / Royal visits / Rutland Morris weddings
  • 9pm: Two dances outside the (defunct) White Hart in High Street West
  • 9.20pm: Two dances at Exeter Arms, High Street West, plus refreshments
