A former residential care home and post office in Rutland is set to be converted into a residential development after plans were approved by Rutland County Council.

The applicant approached the council for permission for the Greetham development back in February, but the plans were only given the green light this week.

The full planning application was for "the change of use of existing residential care home buildings and post office to five private dwellings including demolitions and alterations" at Oak House, Main Street, Greetham.

These plans were given the green light by the council this week (Image via planning application).

A Design and Access Statement said: "Oak House Care Home closed some 18 months ago and has been on the open market since then. There has been no interest from existing or prospective Care Home operators.

"The Post Office (at No 26 Main Street) – and located within the core of the existing building range – was put up for sale in 2021. There was only one offer which fell through, and it closed in June 2022."

The 0.17 hectares site will now become a courtyard style residential development, with one one-bedroom, one two-bedroom, one three-bedroom and two four-bedroom homes.

The site also currently only has space for six cars but a total of 11 are proposed according to the planning application.

For more information and to view the full planning application, visit the Rutland County Council website.
