To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rutland Morris, the group will be holding a 'Day of Dance' where they will be joined by nearly 140 fellow dancers for a celebration of the last five decades on 12th October.

When planning the event, the group wanted to mark the occasion with a large group of dancers so put out a general invitation to the Morris clubs they have previously been associated with. They were surprised when nearly 140 fellow Morris Dancers accepted their invitation. As a result, 3 coaches full of dancers will tour the county for the day.

The festivities will start at Oakham Castle between 9.45 and 10.30 where they will be welcomed by the High Sheriff before heading off on their coaches to various places across Rutland.

Their stops include Exton, Whissendine, Greetham and Barrowden, coming together at 4.30pm in Oakham again for a final celebratory dance. The full information of the stops and timings is available on their website here.

Rutland Morris is also keen to express its thanks to the local community for the love and support they have received in the last 50 years, hoping their celebration might inspire more dancers and musicians to join them.
