A new café in the heart of Oakham has been officially opened by Rutland MP Alicia Kearns.

Number 9 Market Place is a new café that has opened in Oakham, replacing Curtis Bakery with an independent bakery run by the same team.

Speaking at the opening, Alicia Kearns MP said: 'Sharon and Rashni have saved this place and turned it into a wonderful local independent bakery and I am just so please with them because they have turned something around and they are giving back to our community.

'Local people creating local independent shops. We know you're going to have enormous success and I'm so excited.'

The new dog-friendly artisan bakery has customers queuing out the door on opening day.
