Oakham and Rutland police are targeting rural crime over the next few weeks following a recent spike of such crimes.

Pc Joe Lloyd of Oakham Police said on social media that Operation Vitality will see officers out in the Vale of Belvoir, Melton and Rutland areas.

He calls on people who might see suspicious behaviour in rural areas, especially if it involves vans, to ring police on 101.

If a crime is suspected to be actually taking place, then people are asked to ring 101.
