Rutland County Council's growth, infrastructure and resources scrutiny committee is to provide input to the pre-submission version of the county's next Local Plan at a special meeting next Thurdsay (16 Jan).

Local planning authorities must have a Local Plan that sets out the planning policies for their area.

Rutland's updated Local Plan sets out where any additional new housing, employment or other development may be needed in future years and will cover the period from 2018 to 2036.

Members of the scrutiny committee are being asked to review the Pre-Submission Rutland Local Plan 2018-2036 and provide any comments for consideration.

Rutland County Council's cabinet will then be asked to recommend the Pre-Submission Local Plan to full council on 27 January, where a council resolution is required before the version can be published for consultation.

The pre-submission version must be published for six weeks to invite comments and feedback before the document and all supporting evidence are submitted to the Government for public examination by an independent planning inspector.

The growth, infrastructure and resources scrutiny committee will meet in the main Council Chamber at Rutland County Council's Catmose offices on Thursday, 16 January, starting at 7pm.

The agenda and reports for this meeting have been published and can be viewed online by clicking the red button below. The council will also be providing a live video stream from the meeting, covering all non-exempt items.

Members of the public are able to ask questions and present deputations at the meeting, which must must be submitted to the council in writing.

Thirty minutes is allocated to listen and respond to questions and deputations at meetings. The council will often seek to provide a written reply to these - particularly if a lengthy or detailed response is required - to give members of the public as much of the allotted time as possible to speak.

For further details regarding the deadlines for questions and deputations, email [email protected] or call 01572 758271.
