A Rutland pub is set to mark five years this weekend, and the team are getting ready to host the party of all parties to celebrate.

Run by a small but friendly team, The Plough Inn in Greetham will be hosting a big birthday bash on Saturday to celebrate five years under the management of landlord, Peter Ling.

The pub hosts regular meal deals, events and more, including weekly bingo and quiz nights and live music from local bands.

The venue is a hive of activity and welcomes locals, tourists and dog owners, having been dubbed doggy heaven by visitors.

The team serve both human and dog-friendly food, and have a wide range of beers on rotation, as well as spirits, soft drinks and after-dinner coffees behind the bar.

The pub has earned praise for its top selection of local and nationally popular beers, having been recognised by the Rutland CAMRA team, who judge the best in local pubs and beers.

And this week celebrations begin to mark the teams 5th anniversary.

Things are set to kick off on on Thursday at the weekly quiz night. On top of the usual general knowledge, sports, music and 'crack the safe' rounds, The Plough's quiz master will include a bonus round all about The Plough to mark five years for the popular venue - so it is time to brush up on your local trivia!

Following this, on Saturday 13 April, the team will be hosting a big birthday bash to mark five years of success.

To help celebrate the anniversary, Rutland trio, The Disco Divas Show, will be performing at the pub, covering hits from the 70s and 80s as well as some soul and funk tunes to get your toes tapping.

The trio is made up of Lauren from Prosecco Gecko, as well as Rachel and Ruth who have sung solo slots at the Plough and are part of the Midnight City Band.

Entry to the event is free and music will kick off at 8pm. Local are welcome to head down early for a bite to eat and a pint at the cosy bar or outside on the sun terrace - which has been spruced up ahead of the summer months.

Pete said: "We're looking forward to our fifth birthday - we've been here five years to the day on Saturday!

"Five years ago we took the keys, and Covid certainly provided some trials and tribulations, but we have got there and are so proud for the pub and the team, who we can't thank enough.

"We look forward to celebrating with you all!"
