A Greetham pub is getting set to mark Remembrance Sunday this weekend, and will be offering ex and serving military personnel a free pint with every Sunday lunch, as well as donating 20p from every pint of their guest ale to the British Legion.
The Plough is a community hub and hive of activity based in the heart of Greetham, an unexpectedly lively village in the stunning Rutland countryside.
It hosts regular meals deals, events and festivals, as well as private functions and seasonal parties - and this Remembrance Sunday is no exception.
On Sunday 12 November, the team will be welcoming local military personnel and veterans to join them for a free pint when they buy one of the pub's iconic Sunday lunches.
They will also be donating 20p for every pint of their guest ale sold to The Royal British Legion.
The Royal British Legion provides support to members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, as well as veterans and their families. They support military households with a range of needs, including but not limited to housing and community care, mental and physical support and employment opportunities.
To support the charity, Landlord Peter is introducing the aptly named 'Poppy Fields' ale, and will be will be donating 20p from every pint sold to the cause.
The deep bronze brew from Newark's Milestone Brewery will be on sale at The Plough from Friday 10 November and across Remembrance weekend.
Amy, a popular member of the team at The Plough, is particularly passionate about the cause as her partner, Mark, is currently serving, and has been in the military for over 20 years.
Landlord, Peter, said: "We have a lot to thank our local military community for, and we hope that we can raise an admirable amount to to show our appreciation."
This isn't the first time that the team at the pub have raised funds for military causes, having hosted a fundraiser for the National Military Working Dogs Memorial earlier this year.
Peter continued: "We look forward to welcoming Rutland residents to the pub this weekend, and urge military men and women to join us in raising a glass."
The pub will be open from 12 until 7pm on Sunday.
