A popular Rutland village pub has announced it is to stage it's first-ever beer festival.

The Plough Inn at Greetham says the event will run from Friday October 2 to Sunday October 4 in Covid-friendly, all-seated surroundings.

Promised are 12 real ales and seven live bands over the weekend.

People can book tables from Monday lunchtime, which are booked in three hour slots for a £20 deposit, which can then be spent on beer. Those wanting to stay longer must reserve another slot.

The pub also said on Facebook: "Please be aware we have limited tables in our new marquee and of course following the latest government announcement these are strictly all seated and at a maximum of 6 people."

Earlier today, the pub said in recent weeks it has been turning away customers due to the weather but that is about to change with the arrival of the marquee.

"At a size of 12x8m this just about covers all our carpark, enhancing our already popular outdoor area. With the new regulations coming in Monday once erected we will be able to seat a further 50 guests outdoors all covid compliant but dry and warm at the same time."

The Facebook post further commented: "Including the new marquee. this now represents in excess of £50k invested into The Plough since lockdown occurred, and again hopefully amplifies our commitment to the community our guest experience, our valued team and of course our commitment to keeping everyone safe and well whilst having a great experience with us.

"Once again thankyou for all your support which without non of this would be possible keep your eye out for some fantastic events happening at The Plough very shortly.

Earlier this month, The Plough also announced it would continue its own version of Chancellor Rishi Sunak's Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Throughout September, meals will be 50 per cent off, with a maximum discount of £10, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as in August.
