Rutland and Stamford Sounds has been shortlisted for two national community radio awards, celebrating the important work they provide the region.

The Community Radio Awards showcases the hard work and time that volunteers put into the running of the stations, curating their shows and giving back to their communities.

Rutland and Stamford Sound has made it to the final five in the categories of 'Celebrating and Championing Community Radio of the Year' and 'Digital Content of the Year.'

The first nomination focussed on the fifth birthday celebrations that took place earlier in the year where the team boarded the birthday bus for a tour around Rutland and Stamford, meeting with community groups and local figures throughout the day.

The shortlist for 'Digital Content of the Year' is recognising their daily social media and website content, combining written and video journalism to share updates on local news, events and travel.

Station Manager Rob Persani said: 'To have made the top 5 out of over 300 community radio stations across the country in two categories which both show how valued we are locally is just fantastic!

'At 5 years old this year, it does seem like we have come of age, and I can't thank all our volunteers and supporters enough for their contribution.'

The awards, which are judged by leading figures from the radio industry, academics and voluntary organisations will be presented at an evening in Birmingham on 24th October after a conference on Community Radio.
