Polcie are warning people in Rutland and Leicestershire to look out for fake emails inviting you to book your Covid19 vaccine by clicking a link.

The Leicestershire Police Cyber Aware team is calling on people to report any suspicious emails by forwarding to [email protected] and any suspicious texts to 7726

Leicestershire Police is encouraging people to share the warnings to help protect the vulnerable.

Similar warnings have also been issued by Rutland Neighbourhood Watch and Rutland MP Alicia Kearns.

Mrs Kearns said: "Unscrupulous individuals are sending out these vaccination requests asking for financial and ID information, using the NHS logo and format. They are fake and a scam.

"The NHS will

NEVER ask for payment - the vaccine is free;

NEVER ask for your bank details;

NEVER arrive unannounced at your home to admininister the vaccine;

NEVER ask you to prove your identity by sending copies of personal documents such as your passport."

The MP added: "If you know you have been targeted, please contact the local police at https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/."
