Rutland Water name only inland swimming spot in England to win Blue Flag Award

Rutland Water shared the news this week that they have once again been awarded the Blue Flag and Green Flag awards.
Sykes Lane has been named the only inland bathing water location in England to be awarded the Blue Flag Award.

The site is a designated safe swimming site and is open to the public to swim during open hours while there is a lifeguard on duty. Swimming is prohibited outside of official opening hours.
It has also been labelled as disabled friendly by Blue Flag, as well as there is disabled access into the water.
The site has also been awarded a Green Flag too.
Both awards are managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, which recognise excellent water quality, biodiversity and green spaces.
Posting on their Facebook page, the Rutland Water team said: "this wouldn't be possible without the care, passion and hard work of our entire team of staff and volunteers, who work throughout the year to keep Rutland Water thriving."
