People who live in Rutland are being asked for their views and insight on climate change and getting around as part of the Future Rutland Conversation.

The Future Rutland Conversation was launched by Rutland County Council earlier this month and is a chance for local residents, businesses and visitors to the county to comment on a range of important issues. By gathering this feedback from people of all ages and backgrounds, the Council hopes to produce a new shared vision for the county.

The latest areas of discussion as part of the Future Rutland Conversation are climate change and transport. Online surveys asking for people's views on both these subjects have been added to a dedicated Future Rutland website: www.rutland.gov.uk/futurerutland. There are also a series of discussion events taking place in the coming weeks, which are open to anyone and can be joined online or by phone.

Anyone who wants to take part in the Future Rutland Conversation but does not have access to the internet can call Rutland County Council on: 01572 722 577.

Coun Lucy Stephenson, Cabinet Member for Transport and the Environment at Rutland County Council, said: "I know that climate change and transport are two issues where many people have strong views, so this part of the Future Rutland Conversation is going to be really important. Although we're holding separate surveys and discussions on these topics, there are clear links between climate change and how we choose to get around, so I'm hoping people will want to comment and share their views on both.

"When it comes to the environment, we want to know which environmental issues people think are most important, as well as understanding where they might be willing to change their habits to help fight climate change. In terms of transport, we want to get a better idea of how people are currently moving around the county and whether they would prefer to travel in a different way. This is all really important information as we look ahead and plan for the future."
