Rutland's new bookable bus service is set to expand county-wide, becoming accessible in all areas of the county from Monday 4th August.

The new Rutland CallConnect service was introduced initially at the end of March this year, with mini-busses offering more flexible public transport options to support traditional fixed-route busses.

Until now, this service has only been rolled out in a small part of the county, between Oakham and Melton.

With the new system, passengers can book their journeys using the CallConnect app or over the phone, using existing bus stops as pick-up and drop-off points.

The service will run from 7am – 7pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 6pm on Saturdays.

The County Council have also extended the free travel offer until 31st March 2026, meaning it is free to use until then. After this date, it will remain free for concessionary bus pass holders.

Cabinet member for Transport, Environment and Communities at Rutland County Council, councillor Christine Wise, said: 'We've been building up to this moment for a long time and are excited to bring Rutland's new CallConnect service to the whole county.

'We've recorded nearly 3,000 passenger journeys on the service that has been operating between Oakham and Melton since the end of March, with lots of positive feedback.

'Once we complete the rollout in August, a number of small villages located away from main routes will have access to a public bus service for the very first time.

'It's a new way of travelling that requires a change to how we use public transport but the benefits are significant, and I hope many more people will get on-board.'
