Oakham Town Council has confirmed that Santa and his elves will be making an appearance at Oakham Christmas Light Switch On this Sunday (24 November 2024).

Father Christmas and his sleigh will be parked near the tree in Market Square from 3pm until 4.30pm to give children the opportunity to meet him. This could not have been managed without the help of The Lions Club of Rutland volunteers.

Father Christmas and his helpers will also be helping Mayor of Oakham Cllr Paul Ainsley with the big Switch On. Cllr Sally-Anne Wadsworth and Rob Persani from Rutland and Stamford Sound will be counting down to the Switch On.

There will also be fair rides in Market Square and cafe Allez will be serving hot drinks and other goodies between 3pm and 5pm.

If you want to get fully involved in the festivities, in the day before the Switch On, Carolyn Acton Events will be hosting a Christmas Craft and Gift Fair on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November between 11am and 3pm. This will include stalls in the Wisteria Hotel and Victoria Hall, making it the perfect opportunity to start your Christmas shopping by supporting some of Rutland's favourite artisans and creatives.
