"Significant" repairs are needed for a set of grade II listed gates at Uppingham School, a planning application to Rutland County Council has revealed.
The school has revealed plans for the refurbishment of the Masons Gate on School Lane.
The application said: "The proposal is for significant repairs however masonry will be repaired where possible, maintaining the maximum amount of original stone.
"Stone that cannot be repaired will be replaced with matching material.
"The proposal aims to maintain the existing appearance but with evidence of honest repair on show.
"The ironwork will remain as existing."
Plans state seven new voussoirs - wedge-shapped bricks creating an arch - will be installed and 14 repaired.
