Smash and grab burglary at Uppingham store

Cigarettes were stolen in a smash and grab break-in at an Uppingham High Street store on Wednesday night (22 Jan).

Burglars drove up to the front door of Select Convenience at around 11.45pm, forced open the shutters and smashed a glass door panel to get into the shop.

Two of the thieves loaded cigarettes into a bag while the third acted as lookout.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: "A quantity of cigarettes were stolen.

"Three people are believed involved who made off in a white Ford Fiesta."
