On Sunday, 8th November 2026, there is a Remembrance Day sponsored 'Stay' at Meadow View Dog Paddock and Training, close to Braunston-in-Rutland, Rutland.

This will involve up to twenty scent and agility school team dogs and their handlers and they will be trying to stay for three minutes and forty-eight seconds to the music 'Honour Him' from the movie film Gladiator.

This is quite a challenge for the dogs, many of whom have worked hard to overcome big behavioural problems, and it is a personal triumph for both the dog and the handler.

The event is set to raise money for Hero Paws - Life after Service, who support ex-military and service dogs and their owners.

Every single penny raised will go towards helping the wonderful cause of supporting these dogs who have given their handlers and country.

This event will be at Meadow View Dog Paddock and Training, Corner Meadow Farm, near Braunston-in-Rutland, at 9.30 am.

About Hero Paws

Hero Paws is a UK charity supporting retired working dogs from the military, police, prison service, search and rescue and other frontline roles.

The bond forged between a working dog and handler through service can be extraordinary, and that bond does not simply end when the harness comes off.

Life after service can bring physical injury, behavioural change and the challenge of adapting from a highly structured working life into retirement.

Hero Paws provides and supports rehoming, veterinary care, behavioural support and ongoing welfare, while recognising the emotional impact retirement can have on handlers as well as their dogs.

Hero Paws believes these dogs deserve security, understanding and a future after service — and advocates for greater recognition of the dogs who have served alongside us, both during their working lives and long after their duty is done.
