We asked on social media where the best place in and around Oakham to get a roast dinner is and the results are in. 

Over 50 voters put forward 16 different restaurants and pubs that they believe serve the best roast dinner with three taking the top spots. 

In first place came The Hub at Rutland Point.

Having only opened in December 2024, The Hub has gone from strength the strength, already expanding into a bigger restaurant space next door.  

The Hub at Morcott is known locally for serving delicious coffee and cake as well as tapas and a popular Sunday roast. 

In second place was The Wheatsheaf in Greetham.

Four different locations of Wheatsheaf were voted for, including Greetham, Oakham, Langham and Edith Weston but The Wheatsheaf in Greetham swept up nearly a quarter of all votes. 

In third place was The George Inn in Oakham Market Place, which has recently undergone a change in ownership and brand-new menus.

Other establishments that were highly praised but missed out on the top spot include: 

• The White Lion in Whissendine, 
• The Twisted Trout, 
• Finch's Arms, 
• The Fox in Luffenham, 
• The Wisteria, 
• The Admiral Hornblower, 
• The Grainstore Brewery. 

A special mention to all of the people who voted saying their own parents and grandparents made the best Sunday Roast, it's very tough competition.
