World’s ‘smallest’ cinema opens in Oakham offering ‘cosy and relaxed’ setting
By James Smith 29th May 2026
An Oakham pub has officially opened its new "cosy" cinema room, perfect for "date nights, catching up with friends or simply enjoying a film in comfort".
The big screen has been unveiled at The George Inn, offering a wide range of movies every day of the week.
With just 12 seats, the cinema has been designed to feel "cosy, relaxed and a little bit special".
Each month the 17th century pub will release a brand-new film schedule - with up to three showings a day - featuring a mix of new flicks, classics and special screenings.
Tickets can be booked online, by phone or in person - but make sure you book to avoid disappointment.
The team said: "With just twelve seats, this may be the smallest Dolby Atmos cinema in the world – and that's exactly its charm.
"Designed for intimacy and precision, it delivers a far more immersive experience than any typical cinema.

"From the moment the lights dim, you're drawn into the film with beautifully balanced visuals.
"Sound flows seamlessly around you, dialogue remains crystal clear, and every seat is perfectly positioned for the ideal view.
"The result is a beautifully balanced, immersive cinematic experience, with nothing else quite like it."
As well as regular viewings, the cinema is also available for private bookings, ideal for birthdays, celebrations, group nights, work socials or your own private screening experience.
"Keep an eye on our socials and website for film announcements, booking information and updates," the team added.
"We can't wait to welcome you."
