You can't beat the Rutland County Show for fantastic family fun
You just can't beat the Rutland County Show as a fantastic day out for all the family.
A microcosm of the wider countryside, the show brings together almost every aspect of rural living and lifestyle, from rural crafts and livestock to the region's finest farm machinery.
Now in its 190th year, the show is bigger than ever with the jam-packed schedule packed full of family entertainment alongside livestock and equine showing classes and the county's finest food and drink.
Trade stands offer visitors the chance to browse local crafts – woodwork, jewellery, ceramics – and sample locally produced foods, such as cheeses, meats and jams. Oakham based brewery The Grainstore will provide bars and there will be a wide range of street food and other refreshments available throughout the show.
There's live music throughout the day and vintage tractor displays, ferrets, scent dog demonstrations as well as a funfair plus the hilarious Sheep Show is back once again for more ovine fun. Visit the Horticultural Tent for some gardening inspiration and have a go on the Active Rutland climbing wall or archery with the Bowmen of Rutland.
In the main ring this year you can watch Bolddog FMX, the UK's number one motorcycle display team performing heart-stopping stunts and tricks. A fast and furious Shetland Pony Grand National will also feature as well as an entertaining sheep herding demonstration by some very smart sheep dogs.
Those gentle giants, the heavy horses will be back. Entries travel from far and wide and you can meet them along with horses, ponies and livestock including sheep, cattle and goats as they all compete for Best in Show.
There's really something for all the family to enjoy and well-behaved dogs are welcome too, so bring them along to take part in the dog show.
The 2024 Rutland Show on Sunday 2 June will take place at the Rutland Showground, just off the A606 Oakham bypass.
