An utterly adorable new addition has been born at Rutland Farm Park in Oakham, and is already winning hearts.

A baby alpaca was born at Rutland Farm Park on Uppingham Road last week, and the staff, volunteers and visitors to the farm simply can't het enough.

The little girl, who has been named Charlotte, was born just ahead of Father's Day, when the team welcomed a number of visitors to their superhero fun day - meaning that the little lady is already farm-famous and used to receiving her fans.

Farmer Amy explained: "The Baby Alpaca is known as a Cria, it's a little girl and we have named her charlotte. We always name the alpacas after the royal family."

Charlotte wasn't the only exciting attraction at the farm this Father's Day, as some famous faces joined the team for their superhero fun day on Sunday 15 June, including Wonder Woman and Thor!

Don't worry if you missed the Father's Day fun, as the team have another fun day scheduled for August, this time to raise money for St Barnabas Hospice.

The team said: "After the success of our charity fun day last year, we've taken on the challenge of organising another, so get your calendars out and save the date!

"We're raising money for a charity very close to our hearts. One of our lovely tea room ladies unexpectedly lost their husband last year and St Barnabas Hospice were incredibly helpful and supportive, so all proceeds from the day will go to them."

The fun day will take place on 3 August 2024.

Rutland Farm Park is an 18-acre working family farm in the market town of Oakham, the county town of Rutland, England's smallest county.

It is run by husband and wife duo, Clive and Julie Ball, and headed up by their daughter Farmer Amy, who takes care of the day to day running of the play and traditional working farm.

As well as bragging a play park, activities and a huge collection of rare breed animals, the farm also has a popular tea room and shop. You can visit Daphne's without entering the farm, where you can enjoy homemade treats, lunches, snacks and buy farm-fresh produce from the little on-site store.
