Rutland Farm Park announces closure
By Grace Kennington 1st Apr 2026
Rutland Farm Park has shared an announcement to close the farm on 12 April, after over ten years.
This surprising news was shared on the Farm Park's Facebook and website, leading to an outpouring of love from previous visitors.
The announcement said: 'It is with great sadness that we announce Rutland Farm Park will be permanently closing on Sunday 12th April at 5pm.
'After much deliberation, the time has come for Julie and Clive to retire, and we feel the moment calls for honesty: this is not a decision we have taken likely. The farm has been at the heart of our family for generations, and reopening its gates nearly ten years ago was one of the proudest chapters of our lives.
'Over the past decade, we have watched thousands of children meet their first animals, families return year after year, and a truly special community grow up around this place.
'We have laughed together, weathered two lockdowns side by side, and shared so many moments we will carry with us always. None of that would have been possible without you.
'To our wonderful staff and volunteers - your dedication has meant everything. To students who have learned and grown here, the visitors who made every single day worthwhile, and the local community who embraced us to warmly: thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
'Until 12th April, we very much look forward to welcoming you to the farm one last time. Come and day hello to the animals, walk the familiar path, and help us celebrate everything this special place has been.'
Since the announcement, the community has flooded the comments thanking the Ball family for all the memories they have at the Farm Park and sharing their sadness about the closure.
One commenter said: 'I was hoping this was an April Fools Day joke but it was posted yesterday.'
Another person said: 'Such sad news. We have lots of lovely memories dating right back to the early 90s when we used to bring our girls, and then the last few years when we bought our grandchildren. Hope you have a long and happy retirement.'
The Farm Park will remain open until 5pm on 12 April, meaning there is still time for some Easter Fun.
Until the closure, the Farm Park will be open as usual, offering lamb feeding, guinea pig cuddles, pony pampering, highland cow treats, donkey treats and the opportunity to explore the farm.
On Easter Monday 6 April, they are also having a special Easter celebration, with face painting, Find the Golden Carrot, Easter crafts and games.
Come along in your best Easter outfit to receive a free bag of animal feed.
