Aspen Manor Care Home - a residential care facility based in the heart of Oakham - has been described as "bright, clean and hotel-standard" by families of residents.

Part of Alysia Caring Group, the Barleythorpe Road facility provides residential and dementia care as well as short stays.

The home has 78 single rooms with an ensuite wet room and a huge range of facilities including a beauty salon, cinema, bar/bistro and private dining area.

Home Manager, Martine Blowfield, told Oakham Nub News: "Our facilities are very popular with residents and families; they can book the space for things like birthday parties.

"Many of our residents have a big transition coming from home and the experience of coming to Aspen Manor for us is that it's like a hotel - it's a home but it has a luxury feel to it.

"It's very inclusive, we have a lot of activities, trips out to the local town, Rutland Water, to the theatre. We also have internal activities such as singers coming in and pet therapy.

"In this way it's not a typical residential home, it brings people together because they're included and engaging in activities which reduce social isolation."

Aspen Manor also prides itself on its holistic approach to care - each residents' package is tailored to their needs, likes and dislikes.

Martine continued: "The nutrition side of things is the same, it's based on an individual's likes and preferences, we don't do just one set menu.

"We have nutritionists and dieticians come in to assess patients and we also take into account people's individual routines - this is very important and forms part of our admissions process.

"People can also have a glass of wine with their meal so we keep the nice, fine dining experience."

The private dining area is another facility that makes Aspen Manor unique; families can book out a separate area to celebrate a special occasion with their loved one.

Aspen Manor's caring and professional approach has earned it many five-star reviews from families of residents.

For example, one review says: "Dad was at Aspen Manor for less than five weeks. We visited multiple times a day and witnessed such genuinely caring people working there. The receptionists always gave us the warmest of welcomes. The senior nurses showed real care and kindness, they went above and beyond and were always on hand. The wonderful carers went to such great lengths to encourage Dad to eat and drink, which must have made a massive difference."

Another family member wrote: "Mum has settled well and appears happy and content. As a family, we can relax knowing that she is being very well looked after. Aspen Manor is very bright, clean, hotel standard, modern, and a pleasant environment for the residents and their families when they visit, they even have a play area for the kids!"

Aspen Manor has a jam-packed schedule planned for December, helping residents enjoy the festive season together.

Activities include baking, Pantomime, a trip to Rutland Farm Park, mulled wine making, sing-a-longs and live music.
